Last night I went on a bit of a card bender. I made 16 cards – 8 of which, were remediated from a stack of old cards that I just couldn’t bring myself to send . . . or even use as AnyHero cards (oh yeah, they were THAT bad)
Overall, this is what I learned:
- Frame sentiments – unless they are intended to be the whole focal point, keep them a bit smaller
- Pick your palette from the patterned paper and use it to determine which contrasting colours to use
- . . . I can’t stop shopping on paper crafting websites
- Make sure the focal point stands out the most in terms of colour, contrast, and position in the layout
- Design first, then make – although its tough to design a card from scratch, its even tougher to remediate a terrible card you already made
- . . . I can’t stop shopping on paper crafting websites
- Remediating my own old cards challenges me to plan first, then bring elements together better
oh, and did I mention that I can’t stop shopping on paper crafting websites?
I started making cards for OWH in November 2012 … it hasn’t even been 6 months and I am so addicted that work, pets, housekeeping, and hubby are starting to take a backseat. . . anyone finding themselves in this situation? yeow!
